Our Wellbeing & Safety Commitment

We are fortunate to be surrounded by an abundance of open spaces, fresh sea air and outdoor activities and have been working diligently behind-the-scenes to review, and in some cases reimagine, each aspect of our property and services to provide you a safe and relaxing escape. You can find more updates on our efforts below.

Some things you’ll notice:

While our stunning view of the sea hasn't changed, you may notice a few operational
adjustments we’ve made for a healthy stay.

  • New reservation policy: We've adjusted our cancellation policy to 24-hours, giving you even more flexibility when booking.
  • Check-in: We've adjusted our check-in procedures to provide you a more contactless experience. Please ensure we have your mobile number in order to utilize this feature.
  • Modified dining service: Our restaurant, bar, firepits and in-room dining are available for breakfast and dinner. Click here to view the Drakes dining menus or call (707) 917-0567 to place a carry out order.
  • Fitness Room & Sauna: Our Fitness Room and Dry Sauna have reopened on a first come first serve basis for hotel guests.
  • Spa: We are excited to announce that we will resume spa services on February 20th for guests of the hotel. We look forward to being able to offer spa treatments to outside guests in the coming months.
  • Pool & hot tub: Our pool and hot tub are open for your enjoyment. You will find we’ve reconfigured our furniture to aid social distancing and limit occupancy.
  • Room entrance policy: Our team will not enter your room during your stay unless specifically requested. We want your guestroom to be your personal sanctuary during your stay.
  • Bike & bocce reservations: Our complimentary bike program and bocce court remain available on a first come first service basis.
  • Exploring the coast: A number of our favorite neighbors are open to visitors. Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve has reopened, as have the state beaches throughout Sonoma County. Our amazing local bakery, Wild Flour in Occidental, is open and serving their fantastic scones and fresh loaves. We have good news for cheese lovers, the Valley Ford Cheese Company (producer of the Estero Gold) and Cowgirl Creamery are open. As is Bodega Bay Oyster Company on beautiful Tomales Bay, for you oyster fans. In addition, restaurants, wineries and breweries throughout the County are permitted to open up their outdoor spaces for services.

But most things you’ll never see:

Many of our cleaning initiatives take place behind-the-scenes by our caring team. Our Wellbeing & Safety Commitment ensures the utmost hygiene and cleanliness for everyone who walks through our doors.
  • Rigorous protocols and ongoing training: We have rigid hygiene protocols and ongoing training for all of our associates. Protective equipment including masks, gloves and face-shields are used by our team as appropriate based on the specific task and temperature checks of our associates are conducted prior to their shift. Modifications have been made to our public spaces as well as our teams’ workspace to reduce surface and spatial contact.
  • State-of-the-art technology: We employ officially approved anti-viral cleaning solutions, including Vector fogging machines in our guestrooms, public spaces, and back of house.
  • Wellbeing at the center of your stay: Multi-use and ancillary items and amenities have been removed from guestrooms and public areas, but are available upon request. Our team will not access your guestroom during your stay, though we are here to assist you with the services you desire upon request. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are available to guests and team members in convenient locations throughout the property.
  • Third-party certified practices: We follow the guidelines of the AHLA Stay Safe program, are Clean + Safe Certified by California Hotel & Lodging Association, and recognized by AAA as a 4 Diamond property with Best in Housekeeping status. Our robust program was developed, and continues to be refined, based on guidelines from the Center of Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, and local authorities.
